“The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
The Fruit of the Spirit is the manifestation of Christ’s life in us. It is evidence of God conforming us to the image of Christ. Of our growing sanctification (Note 1).
The Fruit of the Spirit is the antithesis of the ordinary, everyday sins of the flesh that we are prone to back-slide into if we are not yielded to the Holy Spirit. Consistently. Everyday.
The Apostle Paul tells us why we need the fruit of the Spirit: “Here’s my instruction: walk in the Spirit, and let the Spirit bring order to your life. If you do, you will never give in to your selfish and sinful cravings. For everything the flesh desires goes against the Spirit, and everything the Spirit desires goes against the flesh. There is a constant battle raging between them that gets in the way of you doing the good you want to do. But when you are led by the Spirit, you will grow in those things that cannot be manifested by rules. Galatians 5:16-18 Adapted
