The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It was written by more than 40 authors over a period of 1,500 years (1,400 BC – 100 AD). It is contrary to reason to believe that it is some conspiracy promulgated over 3,500 years. There have been vast numbers of archaeological findings that confirm the historicity of the Bible. And no findings – none – that have controverted Biblical references.
There are over 5,000 copies of the Greek New Testament remaining in existence. Considering whole or part manuscripts, in one language or another, there are approximately 26,000 copies of the New Testament. All of these are congruent.
The Old Testament writings are confirmed in the Dead Sea Scrolls, which date between 200 BC and 68 AD and contain all but one of the Old Testament books.
By way of comparison, there are ancient writings that are fully accepted based on the existence of considerably fewer copies. To wit:
- Tacitus – Annals (written c. 100 AD, 31 copies);
- Plato – Dialogues (written c. 350 BC, 210 copies);
- Herodotus – Histories (written c. 430 BC, 109 copies);
- Julius Caesar – Gallic Wars (written c. 45-95 AD, 251 copies); and
- Homer – Iliad (written c. 800 – 900 BC, 1,757 copies).
The Word of God recorded in the Bible includes the history of many individuals and people groups. Egyptians. Jews. Assyrians. Romans. Greeks. And more. In the end there will be only two groups. Those who believe The Bible. And those who do not.
Get ready.
