The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of Heaven and earth. Acts 17:24
Hands lifted in praise to God acknowledge that someone exists who’s greater than you. That He is reaching down with an outstretched hand, and you’re responding to Him in faith.
Hands lifted to Heaven, people crying out. It’s the way humans respond when they don’t know where else to turn. They think, “someone help me”. You might not know how the help is going to come, but you can know who it’s coming from – your God and Maker, the Lord of Heaven’s armies.
We see hands lifted in praise both in times of jubilant celebration and in times of desperation. We see it throughout humanity, and especially in the middle of devastation and ruin. If you’ve walked through heartbreak or know someone who has, you know the natural posture of the weary and downtrodden. Hands lifted in praise.
Despite your circumstances, what would it look like if today you raised your hands to God and praised Him for the blessings He’s put in your life?
Prayer: “God, no matter what I’m walking through today, I lift my hands to You because You are the maker of all things, and I haven’t left Your sight.”
