The message of the cross seems foolish to those who are lost, but to us who are being saved it is the manifestation of the power of God. For it is written,“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and I will set aside the intelligence of the intelligent.” 1 Corinthians 1:18-19 Adapted

For people who are stumbling toward perdition, the message of the cross is nothing but a tall tale by a fool for fools. But for those who have already experienced the reality of being rescued and made right, it is nothing short of God’s power. This is what God meant when He said through the prophet Isaiah: “Those who are wise will turn out to be fools, and all their cleverness will be for naught.” (Note 1)
