0: Chance of a Triple Crown winner this year; zero. Sovereignty, the 2025 Kentucky Derby winner, is not running in the Preakness. Journalism, the Kentucky Derby second place finisher is in the race.

Note 1: The Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Horse Racing in the United States, commonly referred to as the Triple Crown, is a series of horse races for three-year-old thoroughbreds. It consists of the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes. The races are traditionally run in May and early June of each year. Winning all three races is the preiminent accomplishment in American thoroughbred racing. Only 13 horses have won the coveted Triple Crown prize.
