In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried out to my God. He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears. Psalm 18:6 NKJV
Prayer is the back gate that is left open even when the city is besieged by the enemy. It is the way upward from the pit of despair to which spiritual miners fly at once when the floods from beneath break forth on them. It is never an ill time to pray. No distress should prevent us from using the divine remedy of supplication. Above the noise of the raging billows of death or the barking dogs of hell, the feeblest cry of a true Believer will be heard in heaven.
Adapted, Spurgeon and the Psalms.
