I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from the love Of God. Death can’t, and life can’t. The Angels won’t, and all the powers of Hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are, whether high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean, nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when He died for us. Romans 8:37-39

Whether things are going well or otherwise, one thing is assured: nothing can separate us from the hesed love of God. Nothing. (Note 1)

Note 1: Hesed is a defining attribute of God. It is an unconditional extravagant love, the compulsion to give and to love without limit those who have no merit. It expresses God’s covenant faithfulness through compassion and mercy and love, impelled by a free-willed decision and not by obligation. It is manifest in His willingness to forgive wrongdoing and to take upon Himself the sin, rebellion, and transgressions of His people.

God’s hesed love is why He never gives up on His children, even though they repeatedly fall into idolatry and sin. Sending Jesus on a rescue mission was God’s ultimate hesed. As an expression of His lovingkindness, God allows His people to experience the consequence of their sin. Even this is an expression of His hesed.
