For as a man thinketh, so is he. Proverbs 23:7 KJV
The mind is a battlefield:
- We are engaged in a war.
- Our enemy is Satan.
- The battlefield is the mind.
- The devil works diligently to set up strongholds in our mind.
- He does it through strategy and deceit; through well laid plans.
- He is in no hurry. He takes his time to work out his plan.
Like the twelve spies who scouted the Promised Land, we often decide our destiny based on what we think we can overcome. We forget that God has already given us victory through Christ. We still fight the battle, but we fight it as victors.
Winning the battle of our mind begins with uniting with Jesus. We join with Him in His death in order to then join with Him in His resurrection (Romans 6:5). We identify with Him and His suffering and we identify with Him and His life. We are united with Christ. It’s a story of victory.
One way to help In winning the battle of our mind is to have a daily rhythm, a method to remind our minds that we are not in a story of defeat. Here is a crib sheet of seven daily declarations to frame your mindset and win the battle of your mind:
Monday: My God knows my name, so today I will remember the exclamation mark. (Note 1)
Tuesday: My God goes before me, so today I will move forward confidently, without fear or hesitation (Note 2)
Wednesday: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, so today I will be confident and courageous. (Note 3)
Thursday: My present trials are nothing compared to the glory that God has stored up for me, so today I will choose gratitude and hope. (Note 4)
Friday: No weapon formed against me can prevail, so today I will stand firm, knowing God defends me. (Note 5)
Saturday: I am a child and heir of God, so today I will embrace both the trials that shape me and the glory that awaits me. (Note 6)
Sunday: The power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me, so today I will listen closely and walk boldly by the Spirit’s leading. (Note 7)
Allow the way that God sees you to inform how you see yourself. How you see yourself will inform how you live and win the battle for your mind. This is the path to victory.
Note 1: But now, this is what the Lord says, He who is your Creator, Jacob, and He who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! Isaiah 43:1 NASB
Note 2: Then Moses said to Joshua in front of the entire assembly of Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for the Lord is going ahead of you; He will not desert you or abandon you. Do not fear and do not be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:7-8 NASB, Adapted
Note 3: I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 NASB
Note 4: For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Romans 8:18 NASB
Note 5: No weapon that is formed against you will succeed; And you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 54:17 NASB
Note 6: And since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share His glory, we must also share His suffering. Romans 8:17 NLT
Note 7: I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 1:19–20 NLT
