“Sorrow can be alleviated by good sleep, a bath, and a glass of wine” is a common meme on sorrow often attributed to Thomas Aquinas (1225 – 1274).
There are at least two problems with this meme. First, there is no citation confirming Aquinas as the source and the attribution is dubious. Secondly, while the prescription itself is sound, the order of things is not. It should read “Sorrow can be alleviated by a bath, a glass of wine, and good sleep.”
