There Is Time Only For Obedience

Jun 3, 2026

When God was finished talking with Abraham about all of this, He left and Abraham went home. On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him. Genesis 17:22-23

The Word of God has much to say about obedience. It doesn’t say “figure it all out first.” It doesn’t say “wait until you feel ready.” It doesn’t say “make sure it makes sense on paper.” It doesn’t say “pray about it” for six months. The word is today. The Spirit prompts for a reason. The Israelites at Kadesh had the reconnaissance report. They had the data. They had the grapes. What they didn’t have was the willingness to move when God said move. And that one hesitation turned an eleven-day journey into forty years of corpses in the desert (Note 1).

The Spirit doesn’t usually give the full blueprint. He gives the next step. And the step after that comes after you take this one. That’s the design. Faith that requires full visibility isn’t faith. It’s just calculation dressed up in religious language.

So whatever the thing is, the conversation you need to have, the sin you need to kill, the step you’ve been putting off, the prompting you’ve been rationalizing away. Delayed obedience is disobedience.

Note 1: Numbers 13:21-33
