The Eyes of Faith

Nov 4, 2026

“Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen. For by it the people of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible.” Hebrews 11:1–3 NASB 2020

It is said that seeing is believing, but the reverse is also true: believing is seeing. Faith enables us to perceive what natural sight cannot reveal. As Scripture tells us, faith is “the proof of things not seen.”

The believer in Christ sees what natural eyes cannot. Faith is like new eyes—eyes with a horizon far beyond the reach of natural sight. Eyes that perceive the truths of God, which natural eyes cannot discern. Eyes that, as faith matures, see more clearly and farther still. Blessed is the one who has the eyesight of faith.

When others look at your life, do they see a faith that looks beyond what natural eyes can perceive? Such faith grows as we come to know God more deeply through prayer and the study of His Word. Consider the account of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6:8–17. The difference between them was not the danger they faced, but what they could see.
