God has much to say about the Sabbath. He included it in His top ten list. Here He speaks through His prophet Isaiah:

“Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don’t pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly.” Isaiah 58:13 NLT

The Sabbath is a sign between God and His professing people. He has appointed it as a sign of His favor to them and their observing it is a sign of their obedience to Him. In all we say and do, we must put a difference between this day and other days.

The Sabbath is an opportunity to rest from our work and to join with others in the worship of God. The Sabbath is not some burden, or imposition, or some type of interruption to our week, but rather a day that has been set apart for us by God. We should call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord’s holy day honorable.
