The Privilege Of Age / Finish Strong

Sep 30, 2022

Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many.

Seniors are working longer, living longer, retiring later, and even going back to work after they retire. For some, retirement begins a downhill path in terms of health, joy, impact, and mental stimulation. Too few seniors “come to the grave at a full age, as a sheaf of grain ripens in its season.” Job 5:26)

Caleb was not such a senior: “And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses, while the Israelites wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. Yet I am as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so is my strength now for war and to go out and to come in.” (Joshua 14:10-11)

Be a good steward of your health. Plan on being able to serve God faithfully until He calls you home. Our senior years should be, and can be, as fruitful and productive as our younger years. Embrace the privilege of age!
