You are the people of God; He loved you and chose you for His own. So then, you must clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you. Colossians 3:12-14 GNT
A shocking revelation to the soul this morning on putting up with the faults of others. This from ‘The Imitation of Christ’ (Note 1): “Try to bear patiently with the defects and infirmities of others, whatever they may be, because you also have many faults which others much endure.”
Wait. What?
And then this: “If all were perfect, what should we have to suffer from others for Christ’s sake?”
Note 1: Thomas Kempis (1380 – 1471), a Christian theologian and author of The Imitation of Christ, a devotional that, with the exception of the Bible, is considered one of the most influential works in Christian literature.
