Holiness is a spark from God’s hesed love, kindled to a flame in my heart by the Holy Spirit, and so it ever turns toward the One from whom it came.

Note 1: Hesed (Hebrew) is an extravagant, unconditional love, expressing God’s covenant faithfulness through compassion, mercy, and steadfast love. It is a defining attribute of God, who binds Himself to His people and remains faithful even when they are unfaithful. Hesed cannot be fully defined or experienced apart from the fullness of God’s character. It is variously translated as lovingkindness, mercy, unfailing love, steadfast love, or faithful love.
